Pamana Art Exhibit Filipino-American History Month

October 10 25, 2023

Honolulu Hale

Opening event will be held on October 10 from 4:30pm 6:00pm.

In commemoration of Filipino American History Month, Pamana Art Exhibition celebrates the work of many talented painters and artists living in O’ahu. The exhibit is curated by Corinne Gallardo and presented by Arts Foundation.ph in collaboration with MOCA and KATHA. This year’s guest juror is Eduardo Joaquin.

The first Pamama Art Exhibit at Honolulu was held in 2012 and the most recent was in 2019, pre-pandemic.  In 2008, the State Legislature passed a bill introduced by then State Rep Joey Manahan that designated the month of October as Filipino-American Heritage month. As such, the Hawai‘i State Legislature is the first governing body in the U.S. to officially recognize the month of October as Filipno-American Heritage month.  The exhibit will be included as one of the various events occuring during the month long celebration on the island.
