Dr. Sun Yat-sen and Hawaiʻi Youth Painting presented by the Dr. Sun Ya-sen Hawaiʻi Foundation

The City and County of Honolulu, in partnership with Zhongshan City, invites Hawai‘i students in Grades 6–12 to participate in the “Dr. Sun Yat-sen & Hawai‘i” Youth Painting Exhibition, commemorating the 100th anniversary of Dr. Sun’s passing. Students are encouraged to create original 11×14-inch paintings depicting Dr. Sun’s life and activities in Hawai‘i, using any medium. Selected artworks will be displayed in Honolulu and later exhibited in Zhongshan, China, and become part of the permanent collection of the Sun Yat-sen Museum. All participants will receive certificates, and selected entries will receive cash prizes. Submission deadline is July 15, 2025.
2025 marks the 100th anniversary of the passing of Dr. Sun Yat-sen. As a great pioneer of China’s democratic revolution, Dr. Sun fought tirelessly for the independence, democracy, and prosperity of the Chinese nation. His contributions and influence have been profound and enduring. In the early 19th century, Dr. Sun Yat-sen traveled extensively across the United States, Japan, Malaysia, the United Kingdom, and Singapore in his decades-long revolutionary career, receiving great support from overseas Chinese and international friends.
